For the Love of Ray J Season 2

Here were go again! Another season of girls embarassing themselves for a chance to become R&B singer Ray J's main squeeze. The show isn't as bad as the other VH1 hit "Real Chance of Love," but the premise is pretty much the same.

The show has of course beautiful girls with hot bodies, who are lacking brain cells. Not to seem too harsh, but there are some smart and sophisticated girls on the show. Unfortuantely, these girls don't last too long on the show.

Monday nite was the season premiere for the show. This time Ray J says he's not looking for a girl who is the most fun in the house, but the one who is the best for him. Yea, and i'm sure his leading lady will have a pair of DD boobs as well.

If nothing else,. i'm sure the show will be just as entertaining as it was last season.

Sex on the First Date: Good or Bad

One of my favorite talk shows, the Tyra Banks show, was having a heated discussion on a topic that I previously touched upon. Is having sex on the first date good or bad?
My personally view is that there isn't anything wrong with it. People are sexual beings, and there is nothing wrong with embracing that. Women may be afraid to embrace that side of them because of the old double standards.
On the Tyra Show, her team of proffessionals give their advice about the topic.

"It depends on what you want. If that is what you want it to be, then sure go ahead...If you're intimate with someone early and it is really great, you are going to have to get past that to really get to know the person. If it is really bad or awkward, you may never get past it to discover who the person really is."
                                                                                     -Dr. Gary

"Don't be ashamed if you find yourself in bed the next morning. Too often we don't embrace that we have innate sexual desires which are affected by old ideas about how we are "supposed" to act. In turn, we feel badly about ourselves and our decisions, and we shouldn't."
-Logan Levkoff, M.S., Sexologist & Relationship Expert

Obvioulsy there is no clear answer, ultimately the decision is up to you.

What to expect when meeting a guy at....

A few days ago a bunch of my friends were talking about, what else, relationships. One of my male friends made this bold statement, "Girls should know what to expect when they meet guys at clubs... assholes!"

It was hard to agree or disagree with what he was saying, however it did make sense. Generally guys you meet at clubs are out going, sociable, flirty, and just want to have a good time. So what usually ends up happening is he's a jerk and never calls you again after that nite.

On the other hand, try meeting a guy at some place like the bookstore or a library. They're usually intelligent, sometimes quiet, friendly guys.

Going out to a club with the intentions of meeting Mr. Right isn't exactly the brightest idea. Going to other places that interest you like a bookstore, music store, or the gym is your best bet at finding someone who is closest to your match.

10 Ways to Say I Love You (Without Saying a Word)

I came across this funny website that is strictly for guys. On the website http://www.dumblittleman.com/ (I swear thats the actual name of the page) It gives tips for guys who aren't the romantic type. The best article that I came acros was 10 Ways to say I Love You.
These are 3 of my favorite tips from the article.
1. Leave Notes in Unusual Places- For guys that might seem kind of a stupid thing to do, but I actually
think its really sweet!! Even if  you don't leave a note, a nice text message saying "Hi" does the same thing.
2. Do the Chores Without Even Being Asked- This is probably the BIGGEST tip. No girl wants a sloppy boyfriend. Doing this gesture will probably get you major points with your girl.
3. Make a Special Meal- Im sure in college everbody gets tired of the same fast food or Ramen Noodles diet. Taking the time out to make a meal for your girl shows that you are considerate and thoughtful, just what every girl needs

Going Home For the Holidays

Now that its coming close to the holiday season, here's a problem that may occur for couples who are in college. So, you're in college and you have a boyfriend or girlfriend, and you guys are from different towns. For example your family is in Miami, but your guy's parents live in Tampa. Which house do you go visit for the holidays?

Usually the girl wants her boyfriend to come visit her family. However, that isn't exactly fair to your boyfriend either. It is important for each person in the relationship to compromise with one another. The best way to do this is to split the holidays. Maybe go your house for Thanksgiving and his house for Christmas, or vice versa

"It isn't important as to where you spend your holidays with, what is important is who you spend it with."

Whats your definition of cheating?

Today, relationships seem to be more complicated now than ever before. Now, it seems the definition of cheating has changed as well. So what exactly is considered cheating? Does flirting or dating someone other than your boyfriend count as cheating?
It seems that the unversal answer for the definition of cheating being anything that you would do with significant other you do with another person. In open relationships these boundaries are more lenient. But for exclusive relationships, these boundaries are not to be crossed.
No matter what your definition is, cheating is wrong, and you shouldn't do it, especially if you're hurting the other person. If you're doing something that makes you wonder, "Is this cheating?" then it probably is...

Waiting a Lifetime for Prince Charming

Im so tired of  Hollywood cincmea making it seem like every girl finds their Prince Charming and he is perfect in every way.... wrong!!! Unfortuantely, no guy has every quality that you are looking for. He may be the cutest guy you every layed eyes on, but is a complete jerk. Or he could have a good job and is financially stable, but isn't exactly GQ magazine material. It is important not to let little things like looks, weight, or height get in the way of you finding your true love.

Also, you should consider whats on the inside of a person rather than the outiside, even though it sounds cliche, it is true. The major problem with waiting for the perfect mate is that you are potentially missing out on the chance to be with someone who is worthwhile. No one wants to be alone forever... so give that person is isn't exactly your type a shot. Okay, money isn't everything, but look at Bill Gates, he doesn't exactly resemble Brad Pitt : )

Just Between Friends: Is it okay to hook up on with your ex's friend??

In high school, there was an unwritten rule that you never hook up with one of your ex-boyfriend's or girlfriend's friends. It was pretty easy to abide by the rule in high school. Everyone played it safe just so there wouldn't be any tension amongst friends. But, when you go to college, where your personal is actually personal, do the same rules apply?

There are very few actual relationships in college, just hook ups or friends with benefits. So the rule shouldn't necessarily apply, however things tend to get messy if your ex hook up buddy finds out. Whether you decide to hook with your ex's friend or not, you should enter each situation with precaution. If the two of you are merely just having sex with no strings attached then there isn't anything wrong with that. Do reminder to be careful. It is possible for emotional feelings to occur. If this does happen, it is best to talk with your partner. If you're too sure about what to do in situation like this, the website http://www.hookingupsmart.com/ gives great tips about how to handle this and other dating issues.

This makes dating at FAU more unique since you can get to know someone from a different background other than yourself. You get learn about that person's culture, what they do for fun, etc. Its good to have an open mind when it comes to dating.
If you constantly stick to one type of person, you could be missing out on dozens of eligible bachelors or bachelorettes. So take a chance, step outside of your norm. Who knows, the one you marry could be the one you least expect.

What to do if your friend doesn't like the one your with??

When it comes to the opinions of your friends and your loved ones about your personal life, their's usually matters the most. But what do you do when the people that matter the most to you, dislike the person your in love with? It's kind of difficult to maintain a relationship when the two most important people in your life don't get along. You don't want to choose sides; its almost as if you're literally caught between a rock and a hard place. On one hand you can sides, boys may come and go, but good friends are forever. Also, what if the one you're with now is one of the best things that happened to you? Are you suppose to give up the one your with just please somebody? All these questions play over and over in your mind, for me especially since i'm in a similar situation right now. I don't even have an answer for myself. It's hard not to step on anyone's toes, but at the end of the day, you have to do whats best for you. As in outsider looking in... is the best thing to do in this situation?

10 ways to know if a guy is into you

A friend of mine was doing a project for her sociology class. Her study was to prove whether old cliches of whether or not a guy likes you hold true in 2009. I thought it would be interesting to list the cliches she used in her project as part of my blog:

1. Examine his body language: If he likes you, you may see that he rarely turns his back to you, often leans towards you, and also looks at you a lot.
2. Notice his eye contact: If he likes you, he may either look away quickly if he is shy, or he'll try to catch your eye.
3. Listen: to what he's saying to you
4. Be aware of touching: He might put his hand on your arm when he laughs
5. Watch: his actions around other girls and see if he treats you differently.
6. Watch for him showing interest: in things you like and do.
7. Check for signs of nervousness: Nervous laughter, sweaty palms, deep breaths, fidgeting
8. Pay attention to his friends: If they know he's interested in you, they might tease subtly when you're around.
9. Don't ignore him: If he shows genuine interest in you.
10. Look to see if he imitates: you If he mimics you, he probably likes you.

He's just not that into you: Part 3

If you been following any previous posts on my blog, this is the 3rd and final segment to a situation that happened to my friend. She met a guy, liked him, went out with him a few times, turns out he was married... to make a long story short. Well, recently something happened that added more drama to this soap opera. She was at work, doing what she usually does, and this woman asked to speak with her. Looking confused as to why this woman would want to speak with her, she pulled her to the side and spoke with her in private. The woman was holding an infant child may be about 3-5 months old. Of course, anybody reading this knows the outcome of this story. It was infact her new guys wife. The woman didn't cause a major scene she just told her she knew what was going on. My friend, who was in total disbelief, apologized to the woman and told her she her she had no idea that he was married. The woman understood, and responded,"Well, if you are really threw with him, then i'll stay with him." For some reason I could not fathom why any woman married, single, with or without kids would want to stay with a man who was cheating on them. Maybe there is a missing piece to the puzzle that only a married woman will understand.

Let's go Dutch: Who pays for the bill on dates?

After a romantic dinner or movie date with your new guy, comes an awkward moment... the waiter brings the check. Your date looks at you, you look at your date. Are you suppose to be old fashioned and let the gentleman pay, or do you consider yourself a modern woman and decide to take care of it. For the first date, it is a nice gesture for the guy to pay for the date. Its shows that he is a man and can take care of things which is important to girls. If he makes you pay for the first date, things just go down hill from there. If you pay for the first date, your probably going to paying for a lot more things in the future. But, as you goes go out more and more, its not a bad idea for the girl to start paying for dates here and there. Not for the guy to take total advantage of you and make you pay for everything, but just here and there. When a woman pays for a date it shows independence. Most of the guy friends I know think it is attractive. Or if you 're a girl who has a problem paying for an entire date, pay for your half. In today's economy, it is hard for a guy to pay for everything. So make a nice gesture, and go halfies!!! It wheill better your relationship in the future.

Before we say I do: Cohabitation before marriage.

Back in the time of our parents and our parents' parents, cohabitating between couples was a major sin. "Shacking up," as my parents called it, was extremely frowned upon. Now that times have changed, more and more young couples are moving in with one another before they exchange vows. Couples usually decide to cohabitat, so they can get to know one another's living habits, which is not exactly a bad idea, you don't really know someone until you live with them. Personally, I am all for living with you partner before marriage. It is better do it before you get married, than marry the person and realize you cannot deal them. However, a study done by Sharon Sassler at the Ohio State University has caused me to lean differently. The study suggests that couples who live together before marriage may be less likely to eventually marry than previously believed. Only about 40 percent of cohabiting couples studied ended up marrying within four to seven years. And 42 percent of cohabiting couples disagreed about the future of their relationship and ended it. Overall, the study shows that living together is not necessarily a transitional period that leads to marriage, but it is an alternative to being single or married. So no couple really knows which end of the spectrum they fit in until they get married; are they the 40 percent who end up marrying one another or are they the ones that break up. It all depends one the strenght of your relationship, and if that person really is the one for you.

Official Girl:The "Girlfriend" title

Okay, so there's always that same scenario that happens to girls in college. You been dating a guy... you like him, you guys go out all the time, you enjoy each other's company, and of course you hook occassionally.... but he doesn't exactly consider you his girlfriend. Labeling a relationship whether girlfriend/boyfriend, friends, or friends with benefits can get messy. What you consider somebody to be may not be the same way they see you.
Usually, guys follow the "Oh we're just friends" route. Not to be totally biased, but there are some girls who use the "just friends" label, but not usually. After a girl recognizes her status with her guy, its up to her to either go along with it, or choose to go on to find something better. There has been situations in my life where i have stayed and went along with the title just because I liked the guy that much. I have learned that there is no reason to settle for less than you deserve.
If a guy does not see the potential in you and how great of a person your are then, hey he's not the one for you. There is something wrong if a guy only wants to be with you behind closed doors. Regardless of who the guy is or what he is, a woman should recognize her self worth.... priceless.

A 1,000 Miles Apart: Long distance relationships in college

One of the biggest memories of being in high school is experiencing your first love. You experiece your first date, first prom, and even your first sexual experience with that person. Unfortunately, after high school is over the major of couples go on to do different things. One may go on to join the military, or a couple could attend different colleges.
Having a long distance relationship is probably one of the most difficult things to do. From experiece, they do not work out too well. In college there is way too much temption. The freedom to go and please as one wants usually puts a damper on the relationship.
Freshman year is the time for someone to find themself, and experience new things. Usually, one person in the relationship gets their heart broken a bit. But trust me, the outcome is for the better. It is good to go out meet new people and date around a bit. It lets u know if the small time love back home is really the one for you.

Facebook/Myspace Wars

The popular social networking websites Facebook and Myspace are good for many reasons. Having an account helps you locate old friends, keep in touch family and friends, and also chat with potential love interest. Unfortunately, these two websites can cause potential drama in a relationship. If your in a relationship with somebody, it is not a good idea to go snooping in their myspace or facebook accounts. For one, if you do not trust them, then maybe you should not be with them. Don't go crazy if you see a new friend request on your guy or girls page. The myspace/ facebook explosion has caused an attack of paranoia among suspicious girlfriends and even sometimes boyfriends. If you are in a committed relationship there is nothing wrong with each of you having an account. It's another way for couples to have their freedom apart from each other. Just relax, don't make nothing into something. However, if your gut instinct tells you your boyfriend or girlfriend is cheating, go with that feeling. Majority of the time, you are usually right... Tell me how you feel??

Real Chance of Stupidity!!!

Another one of VH1's hit reality dating shows Real Chance of Love, shows how far or yet how low women will go to capture the attention of two handsome bachelors. The shows premise is the story of two brothers, Real and Chance, looking for love in 15 potential bacherlorettes. Every week the girls participate in meaningless challenges competing for the chance to win a date with one the brothers. Week by week one girl is eliminated, ultimately the two girls left standing are the winners and the "true love" for each brother. Okay, I am all for a good laugh, and this show brings it. The hilarious commentary brought by Chance makes the show that much better to watch. Even though the antics the girls do on the show are funny as well, still, as a female this show degrades women and makes some of them look dumb! Personally, it's unfair to bash the stars of the show Real and Chance, so I blame the girls. If that is what they signed up for then hey more power to them. But, I don't think its a good look for females black, white, hispanic, or asian to be parading aroung in next to nothing doing whatever to capture the interest of the brothers. However, I do commend the girls on the show who keep it real and classy. Essentially, this show is a joke. It pokes fun of beautiful women desparate to find love and tv time. But still, it makes for good laughs and high ratings for VH1....

He's Just Not that Into You (Part 2)

If you followed the previous blog posting of part 1, well here is how it all ends:

Part 2
Days would go by until she heard from "Mr." Right, and of course he would stand her up weekend after weekend for dinner and movie dates. Being the friend that I am, I could not bare to see my friend so upset, especially over a GUY!!!! So, with a little help from Broward Clerk of Courts.com, my inspector gadgets senses went into action.
It turns out, that her "Mr." Right was actually married with 2 kids for 3 years. In utter disbelief, I had to tell my friend the truth even though it was probably the hardest things I ever had to do. Needless to say, she did end things with him. But what shocked me the most was she had absolutely no clue. From all this only be, only one thing can be said...
Ladies, listen to your female instincts, thats what they are there for. Let no man play you like a fool, and always remember you deserve better than a sub par man.

3 of the Best Date Restaurants

Grabbing a bite to eat one the most common plans for a date night in college. However, living in such an expensive town such as Boca Raton, a weekend date can put a serious dent in your wallet. So here is a list of few places that are fun and romantic yet in your student budget.

1. Boardriders

Located at 234 S. Federal Hwy in, this A surfer-themed bar and Tex Mex restaurant. Tiki huts, surfboards, projection screens playing surf videos, live local reggae and funk bands, great place for college kids. You can also chill on the patio, with its cozy tiki bars and wooden swings, as music of the night’s live band is being piped through the house speakers.
$2 Drafts / $3 Wells “All Night”

Visit www.myspace.com/boardriders08 for more information on BoardRiders

2. Stir Crazy

Located infront of the Boca Town Center Mall, Stir Crazy is the perfect place to visit when you

have a taste for Thai cusine. As the restaurant reps put it best, "Guests get to experience all of the action: chefs cutting and chopping fresh vegetables, flames leaping from the woks, aromas and sounds that make Stir Crazy like no other restaurant."

Vsit www.stircrazy.com/restaurants for this Asian hot spot

3. The Cheesecake Factory

One of my personal favorites, The Cheesecake Factory, located on Glades Rd. next to the Boca Town Center Mall. Cheesecake Factory has an endless variety items on the menu to choose from. From shrimp scampi and pasta to chicken tacos. The Cheesecake Factory is great place where you can get big portions for a small price.

Anything You Can Do I Can Do Better

Living in 2009 where anything is possible, the old double standard still remains the same, if a guy has sex with a lot of girls "Oh he's the man!!" However if a girl does the same thing, she is labled as easy or a whore. Prior to going to college I held this double standard true.
In high school girls rarely express their sexuality freely. College is the time where girls just as well as guys are able to make their own decisions regarding sex. FAU unfortuantely, is very lackadaisal about opposite sex sleeping arrangements.
Yes, there are male and female rooms, however there is no supervision regarding who goes to who's room and what goes on there. This freedom leads to an increase in promiscuity among students. Unfortunately, female students usually receieve the negative connotations associated with being highly sexually active. Its unfair to hear guys banter innocent girls who are basically doing the same thing they are.
One friend of mine actually considered transferring to a different school because the gossip was jus to much to bear. Girls should not shy away from their sexuality but own it.
The website http://www.dantingish.com/ further explores the old double standard, allowing women to freely express themselves and announce "Hey maybe I just enjoy sex okay?!?" Is that really such a bad thing?

He's Just Not that Into You ( Part 1)

Part 1

The best thing about having close girlfriends is you share just about each and every detail about your lives. College is the meeting grounds where these close friendships are formed, and also where college crushes and heartbreaks occur.
For the most part, girls attend college to "A" get an education and "B" find their future spouses. On the flip side, guys are generally there to party, get laid, and possibly get some studying done.
Recently, one of my bestfriends was in a situation where she truly felt she found her match. She met "Mr." Right one evening at her job.
Of course he fed her all the usual pick-up lines. Ultimately, she gave him her number. They began dating for about 3 months before things started to become rather strange.
